Blocking "Trending On Kinja" Articles?

Not sure where else to ask, does anyone know if the left hand side of the screen "Trending On Kinja" articles can be disabled somehow?

I understand Jalopnik is a gawker site, but automobiles are my passion and a source of joy and being bombarded by some of these headlines is like piss in the punch bowl.

I know this is old but just chiming in to say please yes!

I go to half of these sites (IO9, etc.) to avoid celebrity gossip and people getting outed and all of that.
